Grant Award: $4 Million NSF DIBBS

Dr Ashit Talukder, Bank of America Endowed Chair and  Director of Charlotte Data Visualization Center, was selected for a $4 Million grant award by National Science Foundation (NSF) under the NSF-CISE/ACI-Data Infrastructure Building Blocks (DIBBS) solicitation. Dr Talukder is the Principal Investigator for this multi-institution, large program award, with multiple institutions as sub-awardees under UNC Charlotte, including Caltech, Jet Propulson Laboratory/NASA, DOE Berkeley National Labs, Carnegie Mellon University, LSU, UNT, FSU and many UNC Charlotte faculty as  part of this large-scale project consortium.  

The large scale awards via NSF-DIBBS are highly selective, and extremely competitive. The objective of this large-scale R&D program is to design and demonstrate novel data infrastructure building blocks that will enable paradigm shifts in Big Data R&D and data-driven discovery and innovation across multiple disciplines.
 
This award provides a unique opportunity for UNC Charlotte as an institution, and the UNC Charlotte Data Visualization Center, to lead, research and develop a novel, cutting-edge Data Science , Big Data, and Data and Visual Analytics paradigm at the national scale, with a national footprint, and international impact.
